"These are not the same ones," said the switchman. "It is an exchange.""Were they not satisfied where they were" asked the little prince.

這時，一列燈火敞亮的快車雷鳴般地響著，沿著扳道工的小屋飛奔而過，小屋被震得顫顫悠悠。

“他們又返來了嗎？”小王子問道。

“我在分流搭客，按每千報酬單位。”扳道工說，“我調配這些運載搭客的列車，一會兒發往右方，一會兒發往左方。”

“人們是向來也不會對勁本身地點的處所的。”扳道工說。

"What do you do here" the little prince asked.

“他們甚麼也不跟隨。”扳道工說，“他們在內裡睡覺，或是在打哈欠。隻要孩子們把鼻子貼在玻璃窗上往外看。”

“你在這裡做甚麼？”小王子問。

此時，第三列燈火敞亮的快車又隆隆而過。

"Are they coming back already" demanded the little prince.

And they heard the roaring thunder of a third brilliantly lighted express.

這時，第二列燈火透明的快車又朝著相反的方向霹雷霹雷地開疇昔。

"They are in a great hurry," said the little prince. "What are they looking for""Not even the locomotive engineer knows that," said the switchman.

And a second brilliantly lighted express thundered by, in the opposite direction.

“他們是在跟隨第一批搭客嗎？”小王子問道。

“他們真榮幸。”扳道工說。

Chapter 22

“就連開仗車的人本身也不曉得。”扳道工說道。

"Are they pursuing the first travelers" demanded the little prince.

“他們真倉猝呀，”小王子說，“他們要尋覓甚麼？”

"I sort out travelers, in bundles of a thousand," said the switchman. "I send off the trains that carry them; now to the right, now to the left."And a brilliantly lighted express train shook the switchman's cabin as it rushed by with a roar like thunder.
